Minister for Immigration Chris Bowen outlines importance of skilled migration

In a speech made earlier this week, Chris Bowen the minister for immigration stated that permanent migration is the “mainstay” of Australia’s immigration program. Commenting on the new SkillSelect system, he revealed that over 20,000 expression of interests have been submitted in just over 30 days and added that “For migration categories that don’t require employer sponsorship, it provides an efficient way of allocating places in the migration program”.
